Maybe you have to try a German TOS ROM image; perhaps you've got a German version of the GFA-Basic interpreter.
I think GFA-Basic 3 will work best with TOS 1.04 (it also worked with 1.02).
I dunno whether it works with NoSTalgia, I don't have it as an image, but I think the problem comes with the resolution changes of GFA-Basic in Lowres: it automatically switches the resolution to Midres.
So if you run it in Hires or Midres, resp. you try TOS 1.04 German(de/Deutsch), it should not crash.
Otherwise I can't explain it.
