Cannot help you there at all myself.
I could write you a routine in Japanese before I could write it in C - Come to think of it, I am probably right! - I have never understood C.
Anyway, the basics of it are simple...
you need to use the GEMDOS Routine "FSFIRST" and read the root of the drive with number 8
erm, the actual code is something like:-
ret = FsFirst( spec,attr );
attr being 8 of course to read the disk label, and char being *.* as if wants to read everything, but with attr being 8 it will only return the disk label
Like I said, I aint no C programmer
as for reading Floppies, then I cannot help you at all right now, as Win2000 will not work with reading Floppies on this machine.... I have GEM setup on a couple of other machines, and I will check it out later on for you no trouble
In the meantime, use a real Atari to create and test the disk label, and then use that disk on GEMul8r
