They're Sony Pascal home cinema speakers (these are three years old, they do better ones now), I spent 600 UKP including amplification. Yes, they're good quality but like most satellite/sub combinations the sound spectrum isn't as balanced as full-size speakers. You can see mine are placed too close together for a proper stereo image, I just wanted something that could go LOUD without too much distortion and also low background noise (because I have high-spec external D/A convertors on the Falcon) hence I'm using a hi-fi amplifier. Not that it makes much of a difference under all the fan and hard disk noise in here!
