A HD's unit-ID data is stored in a ROM chip on the HD's controller board. Nothing you do on the disk itself will change that. ;)
Now, if the formatting really was completed,
then forget the whole discussion. There is nothing left on the disk, so just go ahead and repartition it... Sorry.
If you want to be real sure, go look for the directory, with the DISCUS demo. On a 52MB, it should be somwhere between cluster 10 and... 30? If it's not there, well...
