I haven't seen the Amiga OS so I can't compare
them but:
Actually TOS is not the one and only OS for
Ataris. You can still use it for compatibility
and some rock solid timing for audio apps. But
you can also install the MacOS like MagiC and
the Unix like MiNT (which can be upgraded with
all types of unix bells and whistles).
Cleanly written apps should run on all three
systems or if they need mtasking MiNT and Magic.
You can then choose a desktop that suites
your wishes best. Most popular are Thing and
jinnee. Both allow you to configure your
working environment in many ways and are IMHO
very flexible.
Magic can also be used on PCs and Macs so
you may even install your favorite apps
in your PC powered office.
I can't point you to snapshots of those systems.
