If you simply want to take the chips off and but them back together into a compressed board then you will have trouble, I am sure Atari optimised track routes, etc. However, you may be able to combine may of the minor logic chips into just one or two modern ones.

I had a late STE that had very few chips compared to early STFMs, etc. It is still a long project, you would be better starting with something a little easier.

I can not be sure but... I CT60 is basicly a new machine that latches onto a few lagacy bits of hardware, etc. Move the ROMs, DSP, I/O, etc and you have a new machine and no sh*y 16Bit bus.
