What you said about those patches is indeed right. But it's quite a hassle having to get a patch for every game you want to play. This is very much comparable with all the settings that are needed to make ST games run under the emulators that are around. For me personally it means that I will only use patches etc. for very special games/demos.
Okey, so the larger part of the expected sales will be in internet appliances? Well, that's nice, but it sounds to me as if most of the machines will mainly be used by "lamers". What I mean is that it's not to be expected that a lot of creativity will come from these users. And if these appliances will hide the machine from the user (which is probably what you mean, not sure here), then very little additional hard/software will be sold for the machine.
Leads me to the bottom line: It'll probably sell quite well, but it's unsure whether this means that the platform will be a success.
