Their philosophy is this:
Keep prices at what they were and then sit on it. When X product is not available anymore, then people have no choice but to buy X from myatari.com/atari-workshop, etc. at their original price. That way, they don't loose money on the X product.
Remember, whenever prices are reduced for X product, the retailer loses money.
Good business sense for businessmen. Bad for users though.
