the coldfire is not as fast as the latest generation ppc but can be compared to previous generations. i'm not sure, but maybe to a g3.

all legal tos/gem written software should run on it. but.. alot of instructions have to be emulated..

about the os issues. no idea.. personally i hope they go for mint+xaes/naes, which is way more advanced than the tos 5 planned by atari.
