right; there are IIRC 170 MHz up to 300 MHz versions available.
They should AFAIK be compatible enough, that there isn't an emulation required. Perhaps there are troubles with specialized instructions e.g. float-point operations...

More precisely: fully GEM based software will run. If it ran on Atari ST as Falcon, it should run on Coldfire - at least it will run after same adaptions...

I've never heard of such; it would be great, if it becomes at least improved to be faster, support better hardware capabilities and so on, than turning GEM into Windows 95 Second Edition...
It's even better if it keeps in shape; "modern OS" means usually a server OS with GUI. For example, Linux contains in its kernel a fully functional TCP/IP router and firewall...
