If they are so reliable, why do these places eat through Falcons like hungry wolves? We're talking several a month here. That's 25-50 Falcons destroyed per year per mailing outlet. Now multiply that by the number mailing outlets (I count at least 3), that's 75-150 Falcons destroyed a year by these monsters. Makes me want to puke. <insert famous Lost Boys puke sample> :-)
The reason I hear why they stick with STs (or Falcons in this case) is not because of their reliability, but because:
(a)the program boots up quickly from one floppy. (Everyone knows how long it takes PCs to boot)
(b)it's not worth their time yet (because Best/B&C are feeding the monsters at the hobbyist's expense) to port it to the PC if they're still being happily fed Falcons.
Makes me want to puke even more.

Due to the price of these sorters/conveyors they will be serviced for as long as is possible, and there "always on" requirement is a testament to the Falcon design that they are so reliable even 10+ years later.
