It most probably wouldn't. What the common Localtalk to Ethernet adaptors do, is to translate Appletalk over Localtalk packets into Appletalk over Ethernet (Ethertalk) packets. And since there is no Appletalk whatsoever for TOS, those adaptors are of no use.
There are some de luxe models (mostly by Shiva) which also translate MacIP to TCP/IP over Ethernet, but since MacIP is TCP/IP embedded in Appletalk packets on Localtalk, this is also a no-go for Ataris, which regard the LAN por as just another serial port, running SLIP or PPP instead of MacIP.
