What happens if you try to change a colour dynamically, like with the scroll bars in the colour CPX?
I dont know? I will have a look tonight... I just got hold of a 4.3GB IDE instead of the overkill 9GB SCSI and I am transferring right now, but with my partitioning scheme I messed up cos they went over Drive P: and so I have had to move files to a lower partition etc to get access to all the files, this also meant some swapping back of the original 220MB - V.Time Consuming.

The TT has half the amount of data to send to the screen and way more bandwith to use for it. So, it's not strange at all that the Falcon will struggle.
Yes, I agree... I would not have beleived it had I not seen the facts myself, but the TT's screen is way faster than the Falcon, and because of this, the whole Falcon does feel so much slower.

Could you name some specific web page that is jerky (and what browser you use)?
I use CAB 2.8... The specific web pages, are everything I try!
http://www.fatrakoon.co.uk has my site, this is what I messed about with, its got frames so it should push the Ataris a little and the TT is lovely to browse through it, but the Falcon does struggle... Both loading the images and then scrolling are both painfully slow on the Falcon compared to the TT.

Anything that requires lots of data to be sent to the RageII card will unfortunately always (well, unless something like the planned functionality mentioned above is used) be somewhat slow (due to the slow Falcon bus). The actual scroll blit (which does not involve the bus) on the other hand, should be lightning quick on the RageII.
Yes it is, no doubt about that
>> GEMBENCH Test results
Oh god yes, I know all too well about that!
On the PC, there is a big issue with some prats about how high they can get 3DMark...
A good example is for two of my systems... they get roughly the same score ( 10K ish ) and yet one system plays everythign at least 2 or 3 times faster ( Games of course )
I dont beleive a word of benchmarks other than to help asses any improvements on the very same system. ( tweaking etc ) and even then the scores can differ every 5 minutes without messing with the BIOS.

If you want to see impressive VDI drawing performance, you should check out some vector drawing program. For example, the demo of ArtWorx.
VDIBench is good at testing specific graphics operations, but it does not attempt to do anything approaching real work.
Aggreed. I use Papyrus with some heavy use of different TTFs and Images... That seems to be a fairly good REAL-WORLD test that I have stuck with for some time now... Its about the best I can come up with and I use the same file for all my Ataris

That depends on your definition of 'normal use'. ;-)
Well, ok, but my idea of normal use does involve a fairly mixed bag of a little bit of everything I suppose!
>>If your menus drop down instantly, you have SCREENCACHE (or the mostly equivalent AES background caching) to thank for it.
Otherwise there will be a noticeable pause before a menu is drawn,
I did notice the menus sometimes slowing down, however, when this was happening, I also noticed that the system would crash after about half a dozen times of the menu being drawn??

IMGCACHE should be _very_ noticeable if you have a 32x32 pixel background image. It will also help speed up the drawing of file icons, as long as you don't have too many different types of icons showing (IIRC, the current cache is limited to storing <screen width>/32 icons).
The trouble with me, is that once I moved from the STE & Mono up to Jinnee with Colours, the ICONS Idea became a very strong candidate for diggging out about a billion Icons and assigning every one to a different file ( Slight exaggeration, but not by much ) and with getting 64MB for the TT, RAM was no longer an issue, so Icons are all over the place I am afraid!
Anyway, like I said, I am doing a fresh install of everything, this is not needed I know, but I got a new HD so why not? - I will be keeping things all tidy again, as I have the TT, and I will be seing whats what with the FVDI / NVDI issues. I know this is sort of sorted out now, but ONLY if NVDI is loaded up AFTER FVDI???
You say this should not be the case, but it is. Also wy I no longer have transparent icons in Jinnee too?
