Sounds like you arn't having much luck with your Falcon!
What spot of programs are you trying to run when it bombs? Most times when have a program that won't run its usually a RBG only demo/game or not compatible with NVDI/Magic.
What versions of hard disk driver and extendos are you using?
The first few times I tried installing NVDI it never seemed to work so I spent ages not using it. Then the next time I reloaded my Falcon I tried it again and have had no problems since. Are you using an English language version of NVDI?
I don't think there are many programs that won't work if there is no FPU, so I doubt that is your problem.
Go with Magic 6 and Jinnee! Its a pretty good OS/Desktop combo and I think you can get English versions of both at www.atari-workshop.co.uk
The only other things I can think of is that maybe you need to reset the nvram, or maybe you have a dodgy memory upgrade.
