it goes easier (but slower), only hardware you need is a nullmodem-cable
(rs232, crossed), with weindoof$

or use slip with linux, or much simpler under linux change your gettys in inittab for local login and run some terminal-software on your atari (console-mode only, but you can
"remote" your linux box with the atari, eg
lynx and freeamp works fine(don't forget mime/mailcap for pls association) or you can change files with rz/sz....)
by that way you can put the noisie pc outside and use the quiet atari insid ya sleepin room for listen to music (ya also need to conncet the pc soundcard....:-)))
