Hello,
You did not mention any particular software. So here are some hints:
Aranym is good for multi-tasking, and color- or CPU-intensive (for an Atari, that is) applications.
Aranym should be OK for music programs that don't rely on any hardware (be it RS232, MIDI...), and play sound using the XBIOS, not direct hardware access. Basically, you'll have more luck with players and sound processing, than with music acquisition or production.
Aranym should be OK for office work.
Aranym should not be used for ST-only apps, among which are most games.
Aranym works quite fast and good for me (on Linux). I have no idea what are the performances on Windows.
But you may be interested to try Linux, as well as trying Aranym ;-)
You know, Linux works good! You can ask further advice by mail, if you want (both on Linux and Aranym).
