A simpler suggestion, you may try cleaning the contacts with an electronics cleaner substance. Most good stores carry it, it usually comes in a spray can. Here in the USA, I use something called Chromalin, it comes in a red can. I'm sure you can get something similar if you live elsewhere. I've heard there's a place called Maplin over there which sells things of that nature.
