Hi Steve, Lord Gaiyan, Sauron & Lyndon,
I'll be honest, I can't afford it! If I had never heard of a Falcon, never owned one or I was a collector then perhaps you would be offering me a bargain (which I am certain you feel it is - you after all spent a great deal of time and effort on it) but I am hardly new to Atari and that would be the most I had ever spent on purchasing an Atari. The beautiful thing with Atari is as Lord Gaiyan stated, there is a community of Atari users who assist one another when they can. I'm not leeching a cheap Falcon from anyone that could get a better price elsewhere, just putting a tentative foot in the water to enquire whether anyone out there could assist with even just parts so I can piece together my own unit. My wife would positively kill me if I spent the amount you seek on 'another god damned Atari'. The Falcon is a superb unit and you WILL find people investing time, effort, money (and marriages) in them on a frequent basis, however unfortunately (like cars) they rarely put in that effort in order to gain any profit beyond the pleasure of having an excellent unit. To illustrate, I have spent roughly £300 on my Atari Mega ST4 throughout the years and probably £1000+ on my home PC in the last two years. The Mega is great, but can only cope with MIDI. I bought it for £40. I'll never see that £300 again, but I knew that. The PC losses money every second I use it and I detest it beyond belief, but unless I spent that money we'd not have the set-up we have... I feel I am being drawn into the arguement :-) - sorry! ANYONE with bits and bobs to spare for an Atari Falcon who is prepared to sell or discuss solutions please email me (i.e. anyone know how to get a Mega ST4 to record anything other than MIDI). Good luck with selling your Falcon (it sounds great, wished I had the money to throw at it, but I am a lowly I.T. specialist with another child due in April - my marriage wouldn't survive it)
