I had a similar problem. I bought about 6 of the Floppy Shop Gold CDs from floppyshop years ago. With my Falcon & a CD drive I could access the CD & see the folders but whenever I tried to access any files the system would quickly hang. .... To cut a long story short Floppyshop suggested it was because my CD drive was old etc but I later bought other Atari CDs and these worked fine with this CD drive. I tested the floppyshop cds and my other Atari cds on different PC systems over the years (new & older drives). Conclusion other Atari cds could be accessed my Floppy Shop Gold CDs were dud, eventually I couldn't even view the root directory. Never did get to use them .. sob :-( .The fault may be with your Floppyshop CD I'm sorry to say. I recommend you check that out first before buying a new drive
