Buying a secondhand 1040 is the cheapest and easiest solution!
Any memory upgrade for STFM machines requires soldering of 16 additional RAM chips and some wiring to the MMU. Upgrades are not sold anymore afaik so if you're not a hotrod with the soldering iron, such an upgrade is quite difficult and troublesome.
