Cubase is known not to work with anything other than standard TOS, though I think I heard someone got it running under MagiC.
I use 1024x768x2 for cubase on a 17" monitor. Mono is much better as its faster, and you dont need the colour. For Audiotracker I use 800x600x8.
I have tried MagiC in the past, didnt like it. I am going to get round to installing freemint at some point, but not for music use as I don't need extra hassle, just something simple that helps to get me composing quickly.
