Could be... but I have so far read that they are practically identical to:

STe, STf, and Mega ST-

...as well as reading that it is not much like any of these.
I have not spoken with anyone who has actually been inside a STacy, or has any experience fixing them. I am going to make no assumptions, which is easy for me because I do not know much of anything about 16-bit Atari hardware. They might well have used similar chips in those various machines.

I guess the ideal thing would be if it's just broken wires or something. Reworking boards is a pain. I did fix my Falcon two weeks ago by resoldering broken board traces... but a Falcon is much easier to get around in than a STacy! I can barely get the thing apart!

Now that my Falcon is really in service, I will put it back together, and try to get some of my other instruments out of the way. Within a week or two, I should have the room to take the STacy apart and see just what is going on there. Not the first time I've had to fix gear while flying blind!
