I remember the days when CD Roms were that scarce, I wondered why people were so keen on them! I was mostly thinking about CD as a way to quickly install lots of stuff on the Atari, instead of buying hundreds of floppies which I can't afford (many of which would break anyway). For my daily use I will not be needing a CD at all. Besides, I already have a few SCSI CD drives which I haven't used in a couple of years.
I have waited for so long to run Atari hardware that I'd just rather spend a day setting up hundreds of programs, and getting on to making some music! Instead of spending a few weeks making a crate of floppies and another few to install the stuff. If I was using my Falcon for audio work a CD or even CDR would make sense because an hour of "CD quality" audio is about 500 MB. The Falcon is a decent machine for audio, but that is not my main interest.
Your sarcasm is appreciated, though my interest in the Atari ST and TT computers is not nostalgic, but rather practical. So I don't mind if a few new features help me to do my thing. For instance, on my Commodore 64 I only like a few music apps, so I don't even use a hard drive- and certainly not a CD. I consider my CD-Rom a testament to how much excellent software was written for these Ataris!
