The 68060 is not able to decode DVD MPEG2 streams in realtime. Not even VCD MPEG1. Don't overestimate the 68060 just because it is some 20 times faster than the 16MHz 68030. The chip is a decade old, runs at 50-105 MHz. Around that time Macs were trying out the first PPC 601's and the first pentiums arrived. I don't think you would ask these old machines to play your DVD's?
But with dedicated hardware for decoding, things get different. Who knows what the future supervidel will feature in terms of RGB<>YUV and the likes. With the supervideo there's a chance of getting a full MPEG2 decoder in hardware.
For USB, Czuba-Tech has hinted about an expansion board for the CT60 with PCI and USB. But there has been no ordering possible yet, so I don't know the state of it.
