As far as I can see, it does not have an AVSERVER. Personally, it's ok as a replacement for th basic TOS/GEM desktop, as it is very similar (although it annoyingly doesn't allow you to rename program or file icons on the desktop to more sensible names without it renaming the original - like "TIAF.TXT" to "This is a file"). It does add long-filename support for Mint/Magic, but in Magic's case, it isn't any better that Magxdesk (which has a few more features, although it still sadly doesn't let you rename desktop program/file icons).

It should work just fine with Geneva, tho' I have not tried it yet.
I'm not sure if TaraDesk includes an AVSERVER or not....will have to looksee.
By all means, grab the archive and try it out :)
As for using with MagiC...
MagiX Desk (come with MagiC) is really nice. I can't imagine 'downgrading' it to a more basic Desktop. MagiX doesn't take up much memory either, as it has a modular design (calls individual apps for various funcions..I.E. mgcopy to format/copy disks. While MagiX doesn't seem to have many bells and whistles, a browse of the documentation will show that it's got a lot of powerful goodies built-in as hot keys. Add an optional start bar and appline and you've got a pretty fancy desktop :) If memory is tight, MagiXDesk can be set to unload itself till needed.
