Tom!!!
Cool! From the looks of your website, I thought your serial mouse adapter was a farewell to the Atari world because it hasn't changed much. I'm glad my assumption was wrong! :-) I guess you're a lurker like me. :-)
I'm _VERY_ happy to see you're upgrading it to PS2 mice. It certainly is harder to find serial mice now. Electronics surplus stores pretty much only stock PS2 mice now.
Anyway, as for the middle button, how about using it as one of these:
1) A double-click (like Mario Becroft's adapter)
2) Left click and hold (for easier dragging)
3) Rapid left click presses (for auto-fire in games :) )
4) Swap left and right buttons (for left handers)
(My personal choice is #2)
I can't think of any use for the wheel as I think that would require a driver.
Also, how about letting people make and sell the device at cost? (like Lyndon Amsdon's stuff) Not everyone has a PIC programmer, and I think there's a small market out there who would purchase ready-made adapters.
Thanks for your continued support and keep us posted on your progress!
