I wasn't going for high-speed transfers in the first place. This project is more meant to supply access to mouse, keyboard and probably memory devices.

Yes. But whether i do it on the ST or the little
8-bitter makes no real difference, because the
algorithms are equal and the 8-bitter is directly
"on spot" - and won't do anything else either.
I know about the EtherNAT, but like i said, i consider this a more general approach.
