If this was the steinberg unit, i'd say it was the older one and there is no clock in it. But as its the soundpool unit i'd say its probably knackered.
The only other thing to try... Do you have the cubase audio clock unit? Try plugging that into the FDI and seeing if it works, but I doubt it will if you have plugged in the minidisc and it still reports no clock.
