Yep, you need separate CD-ROM drivers.

Commercial: ExtenDOS - The best there is. Easy to use and powerful. But it costs $.

Freeware: Spin! and MetaDOS. Pain the rear to set up (for me at least). I decided to reduce the pain and support Atari programmers by buying ExtenDOS. Some of the best $$ that I've spent on the ST and worth every penny.
