Thanks for all the info folks.

I tried my dads epson stylus printer with the ST and managed to get text only output from it. Grahpic dumps didn't work too well though :(

I was setting up a hard disc I bought on ebay to have a go at some amatuer DTP but I have a more serious problem that printer compatibility. Seems that both my STEs have the infamous DMA chip problem. :(

Anybody know of a work around? Other than buying yet another STE that is :)
