Yes "Newer" was a bad choice of words.
I think maybe "Later", (than what was available at the time of Ataris), would've been better.
As far as the Raster Printing goes... I wasn't talking OS or GDOS level printing, but printing from within Pagestream, which I think would work for what ever you have to print... iirc ESC/P and ESC/P2 only differ in the lack of direct Text Commands in ESC/P, (Please correct me if I'm wrong), but Pagestream's STYLUS_C.PRT only uses Raster to print everything including Text, and I've modified them to up the Rez to 720 DPI, (1440 and/or 2880 would not pose a problem other than "Speed").
I also have my own custom Apps sending Raster Graphics to Epson and Brother Printers using ESC/P(2) emulation.
