No, I'm afriad it wasn't Whirligig... Sounds fun though! Shame it won't run on Steem.

OK, year... mid to late 80's.

And I'll try for a very detailed description asw posible.

OK, ship was fixed in the center of the screen, had free turn (more than just 8 ways, looked like more than 32), it was white and triangular shaped, and it would shoot forwards with fire, and 'fart' off some mines if I pulled backwards. When I dropped mines, there would be this "moop" sound. I remember pulling the joystick back several times to drop off lots of mines and I'd hear "moop moop moop moop...". The playfield was this vast, wrapping space, filled with fun stuff. Spinning flower-shaped ships which were actually 8 ships stuck together. Pink, I think was the color. A large green station with green balls around it shooting my type of 'butt'ammo. Fun to shoot piece by piece. Something I remember about the title screen. It had cycling colors. I think...
White pannel to the right, radar below, and that's all I can remember...
