In case you haven't checked out that XYM thread, here's an update...
" -- I just went into an internet "café" ( ) to post that I've checked the PS.. in fact I took a look @ all my Atari power supplies ..
The guy was talking about a Mega ST -- meanwhile I was thinking about a 1024 (ST)..
The "issue" with the "special" opto-coupler is that it sports a different form factor.. haven't measured things, but it looks like a 14-16 pin IC case (DIP14 DIP16) -- I assume that either Sharp wanted to give manufacturers the option to specially use that DIP16-form.. or they needed it for the very high insulation that this chip offers..
So in worst case you'll have to do some modifications to nowaday available chips (nowadays chips have similar isolation capabilities but don't really need such a large case anymore)..
If it is just for a quick data-recovery, project or whatever:
You can substitute the whole powersupply with either one of the megafile's one, or the one of the 1024ST (I've inspected both)
The powersupply with the Sharp PC101 in it is made by Mitsumi, meanwhile the other models (used in my 1024ST & the SH205) is an "original" Atari-made PS..
The shape & dimensions of the PCB is 100% the same, so one can swap the powersupply easily (with the power-socket,switch etc) - it's really interchangeable..
So my recommendation would be either getting (salvage) one out of a spare box (or something aquired from a flea market) -- I'll try to figure out the function of each pin 'til monday & ask the Atari-freaks @ our local Atari-forum -- the administrator has the schematics of a lot of Atari machines & knows many hardware details..
Greetings
