Possibly. What company made the drive ?
I suppose it's an IDE drive and i suppose it has the
auto-park feature. A sticking head woul usually imply
then that the head is stuck on the parking track. Then,
it would mean that no data is lost - yet.
Now, this is a routine i learned from Michael Ruge and
that turned to do quite well on harddisks that refuse to
spin up. Open the Falcon carefully and unmount the
harddisk drive but do not disconnect it. Be careful not
to touch any parts of the PSU. Switch on the Falcon,
then take a medium screwdriver and give the harddisk
a whack on the side with the body of the screwdriver.
Try it once or twice. If the fan of the Falcon has fully
spun up and your harddisk didn't, switch off the
Falcon again, wait for the fan to stop, then switch it
back on but whack the harddisk on the other side.
This worked for many harddisks i had that did not spin
up and usually, it will work for a while from now on.
However, i recommend to make a backup real soon and
get a replacement.
