I can't remember now, but did the STf come with the AJAX chip and 1.44 Floppy originally?

If the original Floppy was 720K then I doubt it can handle a 1.44MB model.

What I'm thinking is 2 different problems with the same symptoms perhaps.

I have 18 Ataris currently running 2 businesses for 20+years, and I haven't seen a Floppy Controller go bad yet, though they must sometimes.
