I remember a 16MHz upgrade for the STE by Ulrich
Skulimma that put the CPU to 16MHz. However, it's
not worth it since the 68000 has no cache and any
bus access will slow down the CPU massively.
Introducing a 2nd level cache however is not that
easy. I think there was a single-chip solution by
Toshiba that had a 16KB cache included, but it's
hard to get by now and i don't know about
compatibility ...
