Hmm, OK, so when a MegaFile drive is connected to any ST via ACSI, it will boot from it if it has bootable bootsector with a driver?

All versions of TOS will boot off of the ACSI/SCSI bus. It takes 2.06 or higher to be able to boot off of IDE.
As for partitioning, all versions of TOS can handle GEM and BGM (Big GEM) type partitions.
GEM partitions are limited to 16.7 MB for TOS 1.0 and 1.2 and 32 (33?) MB for TOS 1.6 and above. (I'm not sure which is the case for TOS 1.4.) GEM partitions are also DOS compatible.
BGM partitions are limited to 256 MB for TOS 1, 512 MB for TOS 2 & 3, and 1 GB for TOS 4. Note that this is PER PARTITION. Normal TOS can have partitions C - P, so even lowly TOS 1.0 could access 3.5 GB at one time.
However, there are a couple caveats. First of all, TOS 1.0, 4.01, and 4.02 are a bit buggy with their HD routines. Use at your own risk, and try not to run out of room on a partition when using these OSs. Secondly, there are a few useful programs (LITTLENET, for example) that REQUIRE a GEM partition. Consequently, it is probably a good idea to have at least one GEM partition. I have GEM C: partitions, and even with all my fonts installed, there are still MB to spare.
