======
What about them "Low & High" switches old systems use dot have usually found on the RF connector itself some have them some dont.
======
As far as I know, they had dissappeared by the time the STe came out.

Also has anyone noticed that some old systems wont tune into new TVs but work with others?
My Spectrum is affected by that.It was mentioned in this months Retro Gamer too.
========
I had the same problem with a Spectrum 48k. I've never had it with any ST though. I plugged my STe into a brand new TV recently and it worked a dream.
If swapping the memory chips is casuing a shift in the problem, it might be a memory problem. Try removing the SIMM's and blowing out any dust in the sockets and on the connectors and reseating them. My PC played up recently, and found out that was the root of the problem, a little dusting can go a long way.
