What you are talking about is/WAS Amiga DE, basically a crap version of Java made out of tech by a company called TAO.
Now as for the hardware:
First of all, for the price of the Amiga One. Have you actaully sat down and made a price analasys of it? A PPC chip from Arrows, for example, will set you back about $250 + VAT and shipping, a MegArray connector, another $250 + VAT and shipping. Fortunately, these are by far the two most expensive bits.
Secondly, there are mini-ITX formfactor Amigas sold today wich are produced on a batch for batch basis.
