Oops - just re-read my last post. When I said I didn't have much experience with the OS - I meant AmigaOS. You'll find my name in MiNTs changelog. My only point was that MiNT supported multitasking without an MMU, the same as on the Amiga. Its current MMU support is still a joke as it can't rely on it being there for process forks, virtual address spaces, memory mapped files and frame buffers, etc.
Windows and Linux GUIs are much more difficult to program, but getting 3D looking objects should be done by the AES, not by the application programmer. Some new AES systems do seem to support this.
I'm not sure what you mean by offering MiNT and the "native" OS. Do you mean TOS? I don't think there is going to be any chance of getting TOS running on the coldfire due to licensing issues. EmuTOS is just enough to get MiNT and other open-source pieces running.
I don't know much about DoPE, but moving to a totally new API thats completely untested with no current software base seems a bit scarey. I don't know enough about the tradeoffs in their design, and there is always some.
I will say one thing. It looks like things are at least happening again, and thats a good thing! And some of the issues I brought up 11 years ago are finally being addressed, and I plan on getting involved again. We'll see how things pan out.
