well, 'even if', changing your roms would be about the same price as a memory upgrade (ie. next to nothing if you do it yourself). have a look here:

as for getting your hands on a 1040, i don't know about the situation in sweden, but over here they're like 10 euros a piece or less if you search for more than a few minutes. the local ebay clones are a goldmine usually...
