As MIDI has been mentioned a few times here, I will add a little story for you:-

I have been using MIDI since the Commodore 64 days... I upped to an ST when I saw Quartet on the ST in a mates house. I later got Sequencer one on an STFormat CoverDisk, and I immediately upped to BreakThru, and then very soon after, to CuBase 2 and then 3.

A short while ago, maybe a couple of years maybe, I gave up on the ST and TT for my music, and moved to a PC.

I tried, and I tried to use a whole range of different apps on the PC to write my music, but it just didnt have the right feel... Not only that, but the timing on heavily built up midi scores on a PC is pretty shit.

I have recently moved back to writing on the ATari TT, because to put it simply, its superior.

Ok, so you have pretty colours on the PC, while the TT only has Mono ( CuBase 3.1 on the TT only shows Mono as its a Mono Program, however, if you use it in TT MED Rez, you get a larger screen than the ST High, and it looks neater too! ) but lets be honest here... You are writing music! - Why have lots of colours? What use are they to the end product?

The only advantage I have found with a PC over an ST, is that you can write your finished project straight to an Audio CD, but then, I rarely do that anyway, and even when I do, I just record it as a WAV to the PC anyway.

PC Midi isnt too clever either! Ok, so I could use my Midi gear on a PC sure I could, but I dont have 4 Midi outputs on a PC, I do on the Atari, I could get close to the quality with a soundCard, and its not like I havent tried, I have a DB50XG in a TBSC in one PC, and a few other PCs have a range of Creative SB and Audigy 1&2 cards, but to be honest, they sound flat compared to the Midi synths through the Mixers.

In my honest opinion, the PC sucks arse compared to the ST when it comes to Midi music.
