Yes the ST can do MPGs. 1st Guide will do Mpgs on the ST. Also There is an ST version of Mplayer that played Mpgs.
Now I am no expert but animations in 300*200 could run 32frames per second, and there were screen capture digitizers, vidi ST (which I don't have).
Other file formats, FLC, FLH etc run pretty good, and other older Windows formats and Mac formats,
MPGS run REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY SLow even if you reduce the screen size down.
Regardless, the first MPG I saw on the ST was the Pamala Anderson/Tommy Lee MPG on my ST while downloading it in a demo version of CAB 2.0 and an early version of STing 1.08 I believe.
Esteme Pilot plays video discs.
As I am in the dark ages on many things now, I don't know what vector quantization like Cinepak Codec is.
