Well I don't have any STs hooked up at the moment, but I used to play all sorts of animation on them.
Mplayer ST/e was pretty good.
Back in the day I used to record Cyber Paint Animations, very complicated ones, that when ported over to the Amiga, choked and puked because it couldn't keep up in real time, not even in 16 colours with the A3000. More moving objects the more it would speed up and slow down, whereas the ST just kept on chugging.
Colour and Res was the problem with the ST, as well as good quality output.
Ah, I have a Falcon now:-).
But yeah, MPGS on the TT are not that fast, and on the Falcon (STock) depending on the player, they are pretty good.
An ST is not that bad, particularly if you have a 4 meg one, and the program lets you use it all, another failing of the ST is a fast Hard drive.
Animation and graphics on the ST with Cyber Paint, Sculpt and Cad 3d gives alot of power and control. Most of the animation can still be ported.
ALso, IIRC there were programs to convert the other way as well, but often cyber animation were ported to other machines.
We kept using the Cyber Series till around 1997-8 and porting it, because of ease of use, and limitations in other programs or hardware. No longer an issue today:-).
Another problem with the CAD3d and Cyber Paint is the programs don't run on TT or Falcon, but Cyber Scuplt does.
