About the clock: I'd open the Falcon and have a look.
Perhaps an internal video extension was installed and
has gone lose or has been uninstalled without proper
cleaning up. If none is or was present, i'd check the
crystal oscillators and their solder pads.
Since your Falcon seems to work well with the standard
25MHz VGA clock, it ought to be a problem very closely
related to the clock and the crystal oscillator.
About the CT63: Can't help you at all. I am most probably
going to buy a sort of adapter that will feature a plug
for an external notebook-like 12V PSU. They are small
and should be sufficient to drive the Falcon.
