I had this problem also. Back when atari had customer service they told me to put the cartridge in and pull it out repeatedly (5 to 10 times). They said it was something about a protective coating on the cart leads that wear off over time. It sounds like you have had your carts for some time and the coating should have worn off by now. Try it, it worked for me on zero5. good luck.
