I don't know if you know or not, but there is a great IDE interface from Paskud (Poland). I think it has 2 major drawbacks:
- it uses the cartridge port of the ST
- I think it is not AHDI compatible
But it offers:
- Plug and play (really !!!)
- IDE interface instead of SCSI
- Also supports CD-ROM
- External design but can be installed inside the case
- Cheap

It worths a try. I installed it into my Mega4 with a 3.5" ide drive.
