When i bought my old iMac, 7 years ago, there was lots of problems with the USB.
Apple then replyed me:
USB is like a marriage,
it works best with only one lady,
or else trouble can occur.
(=just plug one thing in one port, no hubs)
USB itself isn't bad, but many of the old both software and hardware solutions where really bad.
