I've only just started reading this thread and find it confusing.
A guy offers to build up a much wanted SCSI interface and nobody seems to want one even though Link97 is no longer in production.
There is nothing in the things but a small circuitboard and programable chip, maybe a small buffer also. All you need the the "program" which nobody seems to be able to get hold of, if you had that you could build them up cheap.
The remark about expensive PCB's is somewhat disturbing. I make PCB's myself, and even get PCB plants to do very small runs.
One could copy the link easy if we just had the program and and a programmer to blow the chips. copying the PCB could be done, easier if ther gerbers were published, it would cost next to nothing to build.
So apart from the link, someone offers to construct a new interface like the link, and nobody cares ?!
If someone got the chips programmed I would build the things up myself. If people are willing to spend $90 on a link then if a new interface can be built for that or less then I really don't see what the problem is. Sounds like a good idea to me.
