Whoa! Hold on there havoc.
I 100% disagree with you on point 1. Have you been on eBay lately? Prices are INSANE for hard disk interfaces. They're going for at least US$50, and it's not uncommon for them to go over US$100. Doesn't sound like "there's no demand" to me. I don't know where you got the idea that no one wants a Link-type device.
Where can I buy an IDE adapter today? Keychange and Mario Becroft aren't making anymore (unless there's high demand which I don't see). Don't even start with Paskud's cartridge interface which isn't AHDI compatible. I (and I'm sure others) don't have GAL programmers or the time to make our own. Not to mention, not everyone has great soldering skills. An external interface would greatly fill that need which I'm sure exists today.
Chris, I think the demand got jumbled in the "My country is better than your country" crap that got mixed in. I think if you cut out all the fighting crap that people posted, you'll see there is demand for it.
Also, I know and agree with your assessment on manufacturing Link 97s again. However, as you noted, no one has the program that needs to be burned into the PAL in the Link 97. I'm sure you, and others like Satantronic or Rory McMahon would have figured out and made Link 97s by now if the program was available. But WB Systemtechnik seems silent on this issue. :-(
